Satchel One Platform

(Formerly known as Show My Homework)

A new way to record, track and monitor Home Learning and Homework at Hawick High School

Following the launch of Satchel One for Home Learning for all our students last session we are pleased to be able to use this as the vehicle to communicate the work being set to parents in January 2021.

Log in details for all students have been emailed out to parents last session. For any parents who have not received their parent log in details (with a child in any year group) please contact the school via hhs@scotborders.gov.uk or your child’s pastoral teacher to get the information required. We are working through those parents who have not set up accounts and are attempting to resend the information on an individual basis over the coming week.

In the interim if you do not have a Satchel One account both students and parents can check the work being set without a log in via the link to the Hawick High Satchel One calendar below;

The main use of Satchel One is to inform parents of the work being set for their child on a weekly basis subject by subject. Teachers are continuing to use Satchel One (formerly known as Show My Homework) to signpost parents to the work their child should be completing in Microsoft Teams.

Satchel One is also available for students to access and use as it creates a to do list for students and helps them to plan their work out through the week. We have therefore created a brief log in guide for students to be able to access and see the work on a to do list in Satchel One which is shown below and some more up to date information written by a student from their perspective;

Staff will be setting work once a week for each class (on the first day they are due to see that class in the week) under one task on Satchel one. The students then will have a week to complete the work for that teacher and class. Students should be look to be spending approximately 3-4 hours a day on home learning so will need to plan out their week to allow for all subjects to be covered in blocks throughout the week. A student timetable planner is shown on the home learning page to assist with this.

We are aware there are a large number of notifications which are set to default and will go out on via Satchel one to parents to inform them of work being set, deadlines, reminders and submissions. The following video suggests the best way to tailor the notifications you wish to receive about your child and their work.

Changing notifications on Satchel One to suit your needs as a parent.

Please see a range of documents and resources below to assist in the roll out of the tool for students and parents.

A Parent’s Guide to Show My Homework

Satchel One will allow you to see the details of the learning tasks your child has been set, all their deadlines and their submission status and grades. We have decided to introduce this system to improve the way we communicate with parents and give you greater visibility into the home learning and homework we set. This tool should also allow students to better manage their time and well being at home whilst learning and to prioritise and organise their learning and workload in a more manageable way.

To view all homework set without login details please visit http://hawickhigh.showmyhomework.co.uk the link for Show My Homework shown on the right. Please note you will need to use the filter options at the top of the page to find your child’s homework.
