Dear Parent/Guardian

All S4-S6 pupils are permitted to study at home during study leave this year. Study leave begins on April 30th and runs until June 1st – pupils will return to school on June 4th.

S4 pupils who are taking mainly National 3 and 4 qualifications should ensure that they have passed their courses before they finish for study leave. If they have assessments to complete they will be required to attend school during study leave until they achieve their pass grade. It is also suggested that they could use this time effectively by organising some work experience.

Pupils sitting exams have access to a wide variety of study sessions to help them prior to their exams (pupils should ask teachers if they are unsure when these session are on). Pupils should also speak to teachers prior to going on study leave about times that may be available during study leave where they can come into school for some extra revision help. Please ensure that they take advantage of these opportunities to consult staff to maximise their chances of high quality passes in their exams.

All pupils have access to Scholar (http://scholar.hw.ac.uk/) an online revision site which has notes, tasks, exam preparation and live online sessions – they can get their login from their teacher if they have not already done so. Pupils should check with individual teachers about other online resources they can access in order to help with them with their revision.
It is crucial from now until the exams your child is focused, determined and has a clear study plan to ensure they achieve to the best of their ability. I know you will do everything in your power to ensure you support your child and create a positive study/working environment at home.

The school is always open to any pupil who may find it difficult to study at home. If this is the case they can speak to their guidance teacher to arrange a study room.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with myself or your child’s guidance teacher.

Yours sincerely,

Vicki Blair
Depute Headteacher
