Resilient School Policy
Thursday, February 2nd, 2017
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of Scottish Borders Council’s “Resilient School Policy”. Under this policy Hawick High School will remain open to S1 & S2 pupils in the event of adverse weather. S1 & S2 pupils will be able to come to school, assuming health and safety risk assessments are deemed appropriate, where Hawick-based teachers will be sufficient to continue a school timetable. Pupils in S3-6 will have home study, guided by revision and ICT resources such as Edmodo, as too many of our staff live beyond Hawick to maintain a full service in seriously adverse weather. All S3-6 pupils have been given instructions from their teachers about study in the event of this situation. This situation will only occur if Scottish Borders Council Education Management staff take the decision to close schools. Parents will receive a Groupcall message and updates will be communicated via Radio Borders.
