Committee’s fresh fundraising drive

The charity committee are a group of sixth years who choose two charities to raise money for throughout the school year. Last year’s events such as; non-uniform days, bake sales, the photo booths at the Christmas dances, selling candy canes and the Easter coffee morning raised just over £3,000 for The Borders Children’s Charity and Hawick Food Banks (The Salvation Army).

This year the charity committee have chosen to raise money for The Lavender Trust and CLIC Sargent. The Lavender Trust is a charity that provide information and care for those that have unfortunately been affected by cancer. They are a UK wide charity that are dedicated to supporting cancer patients and their families.

The committee’s second charity, CLIC Sargent, help young people as well as children who have been diagnosed with cancer. The school are hoping to contribute towards Trinity Primary School’s fundraising efforts for CLIC Sargent. Trinity are supporting the organization as one of their pupils has recently been ill, and the inspirational charity provided a lot of invaluable help to his family.

Hawick High School’s first fundraiser of the year was a bake sale which took place on Thursday 8 October and raised a fantastic £146.43 for The Lavender Trust and CLIC Sargent. Future events are currently being planned by the committee so hopefully the school can raise as much money as possible for these amazing charities.
