Borders College Open Day

Borders College will be holding an Open Day that is taking place on Wednesday 21 October at Scottish Borders Campus from 2:00pm to 8:00pm. The day is a great opportunity for potential students to come along and hear about courses they have an interest in, see the Campus and get an idea about what college life is all about to help plan their future.

There will also be a variety of events that will be happening specifically for BASE (Borders Academy of Sporting Excellence) Sports Courses.

 

At present, BASE at Borders College offers the following courses:-

· BASE Schools Academy

· BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Sport and Exercise (SCQF Level 5)

· BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Rugby (Performance) (SCQF Level 5)

· BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Football (Performance) (SCQF Level 5)

· BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Downhill/Mountain Biking (Performance) (SCQF Level 5)

· BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma/Diploma in Sport and Exercise (SCQF Level 6)

· BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma/Diploma in Sport (Performance) (SCQF Level 6)

· HNC Coaching and Developing Sport (SCQF Level 7)

· HND Coaching and Developing Sport (SCQF Level 8)

 

For 21 October, there will be:-

2.00pm – 2.30pm BASE Performance Football and Rugby in action

Visitors will be taken over to the 3G area at the college to see the Performance students in action. There will be the opportunity to speak to the coaches who run these practical performance sessions.

3.30pm and 6.30pm BASE Sports Courses Presentation

A presentation covering all sports courses and college life will be given by Kenny Moretta (Programme Leader – Sport). Opportunity for questions will be provided.

Through the Day BASE Sports Area

As part of the Open day , there will be a “marketstall” type area in the college reception for sport alongside other college areas. There will be a member of the sports team always present to speak to and for interested pupils to discuss their potential future with. Current students will also be around to chat to get a real picture of college life.

BT Sport Scottish Rugby Academy , Borders & East Lothian

As part of the BASE Rugby course, the opportunity is included to train with the SRU BT Sport Scottish Rugby Academy players. Staff from the Academy will be present at various times through the day for those with a specific interest in their rugby development.
